In the Room
Very nice manor house in good location in Strahan. Rooms were very well appointed with attention to detail
Felt that the breakfast ( continental only) was very minimal compared with what we expect as choice for a continental breakfast. Also the lady operating in the breakfast/dining room, made no attempt at any connection with the guests and the place then seemed tolack any atmosphere.
The room was comfortable and bathroom well provided. Position, gardens, and old house by sea gave it a good start.instructions on how to get to room arriving after 6pm when we rung were clear and well executed. Small town is excellent and two clear days for bay and railway are really required to get best out of it. We were moving on to cradle mountain which is only two hours away so missed these.
Attitude of Staff Member on duty in morning was just functional. Milk for hot drinks left in room was half that usually provided.Room was quite cold but there was heating but we were unable to put it on. Breakfast was minimal continental and replenishments had to be asked for.
The gardens and by Building are pleasant.
The customer service was appalling, as was the breakfast. We were so disappointed that an establishment with so much potential was neglected. We look for venues for tour groups and could not use this venue as is.
The Franklin Manor is a beautiful place, well maintained building and manicured gardens. Our chosen room did not have a view, but the included breakfast made up for it. The Manor has all the trimmings of a bygone era, like drawing room, wine tasting room etc. The restaurant was not available this time of the year, but there are plenty nearby restaurants to choose from. The hostess made us feel welcome and looked after us like royalty.
no, nothing at all
Very romantic. Feels like a magical historic manor
It was cold- no heating. Breakfast provided was ordinary and not much provided. The one staff member we saw was disinterested. I asked about the wifi not working and she said it was s problem in the area, however looking at previous reviews today the wifi hasn't worked for ages. Upstairs floors creak loudly and if you are downstairs it is very noisey. Walls very thin and you can hear everything (and I mean everything). When we left, all guests receipts with their details were left in a pile on the front desk to go through. Very ordinary place.
The location was great but there was nothing else to recommend this hotel!
It was a bit like stayig at Fawltey Towers except there was no humour. The rooms were very cold, the log fires were not lit (inspite of all the guests complaining of the cold), the staff were disinterested (at best), the internet didn't work, electric blanket didn't work, there was no restaurant. Thebreakfast was threadbare (as were the furnishings). It wasa very disappointing hotel although thr location was superb and the hotel had potentia too bad about the management!l
The Manor was a beautiful building and very peaceful. The gardens were very nice as well.
The only staff member we saw was not very friendly. He couldnt look you in the eye or engage you in conversation.
It's old world charm, comfortable bed, quiet surroundings.
The lack of access to a public telephone. Our cel phone had no coverage in that part of the state.
Family welcoming manner of staff
Great situation, beautiful garden, historic beautiful architecture, luxurious bedding.
New flatscreen wasn't connected properly, self serve breakfast scanty and plain, service lacked warmth, ambiance could have been far more welcoming as it has great potential i.e. on a cold wet day, fires could have been burning in sitting areas. Under imaginative management, could be fantastic B & B!
Tired and a little grubby. Restaurant was still closed although it advertised it would be open in October.
The location was excellent - within walking distance of the small township of Strahan. The Manor was a beautiful building with comfortable furnishings. There were not many guests (we counted four others) staying so we felt we had the Manor to ourselves especially at night. The staff lit the fire in the lounge room so we were very comfy.
There were only a few faults. The coffee/tea provisions were not refreshed over our 2 night stay and no shower cap was provided. We had difficulty with the key to our room so it remained unlocked most of the time - this may have been a security problem if the Manor had more guests. There were no alternative beverages offered to tea or coffee (which I don't drink ).
The building itself and the location.
No heating in the dining room and the lounge. It was cold!!
The history of the house and position in the wilderness
We arrived on a freezing cold day. Inside the manor was very cold as well. A warmed room would have been very much appreciated.
